Scheduling Appointments

Policies:
  • Students may book a tutoring appointment 24 hours in advance (for the next day);
    • there are no drop-in hours and this is why the current day is in gray on the MyWCOnline schedule
  • Tutoring sessions are between 1-2 hours in length;
    • set the time frame at the top of appointment form
  • Students may visit once per day and are allotted 3 hours per week;
  • Appointments may be scheduled as far in advance as the end of the current semester;
  • The schedule rotation starts on Sunday’s;
  • The Center is closed on Saturday’s;
  • Appointment forms need to be conscience and as specific as possible;
    • this policy helps ensure that our tutors have enough time to prepare and refresh on concepts, formulas, or ideas from the course before the appointment(s).
  • If one would like to bring a fellow peer from the same course/professor to an appointment;
    • please have them register for a MyWCOnline account first and then write a note to your tutor in the comments section of the appointment form (2 peers max)
  • Tutoring session(s) CAN occur outside of the Tutoring Resource Center (2nd floor of Haas Library); 
    • but has to be on Western Connecticut State University’s campus (Westside or Midtown)
    • has to be at a public open space (Science Building, Westside Classroom Building, Visual & Performing Arts (VPA)’s practice rooms, or Student Centers)
    • meaning NO dormitories, residential halls, or coffeehouses
    • if needing assistance on an assignment while in a residential hall, please see your Academic Resource Mentor on staff at the front desk.

How to schedule a tutoring appointment:
  1. First, log in to: https://wcsu.mywconline.net/
  2. Once in the portal, use the select your course drop-down menu at the top of the screen;
  3. Choose your course from this menu;
    • Important to note, that all courses are listed by course name and number in the catalogue (i.e. HIS 148 or BIO 106)
  4. A few moments later, a schedule will generate below and one can view which peer tutor(s) are available for the week;
  5. Click on any WHITE SPACE at preferred day and time;
  6. Then a new window will appear with an appointment form;
  7. Fill-out this appointment form with as many specifics as possible including the timeframe (a 1 or 2 hour session);
  8. Once completed, scroll to the bottom and press the ‘Save Appointment’ button;
  9. Please then check your WCSU email for appointment confirmation along directions on where to meet your tutor.

To modify the time frame of a current appointment:

**Before changing the time frame, please be sure to check the schedule to see if it is open (in white) and is before the two hour cancellation period*

  1. First, log in to: https://wcsu.mywconline.net/
  2. Go to the upper left-hand welcome menu and choose ‘My Appointments’;
  3. Time/Dates of current appointments will be listed here- click the appointment you would like to modify;
  4. Once this selected appointment form appears, there is a drop-down menu for the end time at the very top;
  5. Choose the proper start/end time (i.e first menu will be 11:00 am- and the second menu 1:00 pm);
  6. Lastly, scroll to the bottom of the form and press ‘Save Changes’;
  7. Verify this change by checking your WCSU inbox for a new email.
