Holidays and Inclement Weather
The Tutoring Resource Center (TRC) follows the University schedule for holidays and breaks, including weather delays and early closures.
Students who have a tutoring session scheduled for the day of closure will receive two email notifications. One from our scheduling portal (MyWCOnline) as well as one from the University’s emergency (EverBridge) system. These two emails will entail a similar message disclosing the opening/closing times of the campus along with some directions for parking or procedures. The Tutoring Resource Center’s email will have more specific instructions related to re-scheduling a session and/or about the Haas Library (Midtown Campus).
If an announcement of a campus weather-related closure occurs during a tutoring session, the TRC tutor will respectfully end the appointment. The TRC Coordinator will then get back to tutee with tentative days/times for a new session with this tutor via email.
The Center may close early at the Coordinator’s discretion during Sunday hours’ if travel is hazardous for staff and tutees. In this case, tutees who have scheduled a session that day will be called/contacted about such cancellation.
University Holidays & Breaks:
All University breaks/holidays are noted directly on the Tutoring Resource Center’s weekly schedule (MyWCOnline) with a gray block and set by the Coordinator at the beginning of the semester. A brief message will be posted a week before at the top of schedule as an announcement/reminder to students.
Example of such is:
“The Tutoring Resource Center will be closed for Spring Break (Friday March 8th to Sunday March 17th)
We will reopen on Monday, March 18th with regularly scheduled availability. See you soon!”
- No video-chatting or online make-up tutoring sessions are permitted;
- No tutoring can occur beyond campus grounds or in private areas i.e. dormitories;
Sessions typically take place in the Center (located on the 2nd floor of the Haas Library) or in a campus building (Westside or Midtown) if other supplies or quiet space for studying is needed. For example, the Science Building’s labs/rooms, the Westside Classroom Building’s study areas, the Visual & Performing Arts (VPA)’s practice rooms, or one of the Student Centers’.
- If a weather-related closure occurs during one of your weekly scheduled sessions and you are on academic probation or mandated by coach/program to have these, please email the Tutoring Resource Coordinator- Lauren Eddy (email@example.com).
Weather notices will be posted on the university homepage at www.wcsu.edu and will be sent via the new Everbridge notification system. If you were enrolled in the previous emergency notification system, you will continue to receive notices via Everbridge. If you were not enrolled and wish to receive such notifications, information is provided at http://www.wcsu.edu/ens/. Delays and closings will also be posted on the university’s Facebook and Twitter feeds, and some area television and radio stations.
